Corbin Bosch, the South African fast bowler, has been handed a one-year ban as a penalty for withdrawing from Pakistan Super League (PSL) after getting picked in the draft ahead of the 2025 season. The 30-year-old was a diamond pick in the PSL draft by Peshawar Zalmi, but following his withdrawal from the tournament, he was signed by Mumbai Indians (MI) as an injury replacement for Lizaard Williams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, which is currently underway in India.

Notably, Corbin Bosch left PSL high and dry after its schedule clashed with the IPL, and it led to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) serving him a legal notice in regards to alleged contract breach, as per the report from ESPNcricinfo. As of this writing, the South African is yet to compete for MI in a match in the IPL 2025, which is why his decision to leave PSL ahead of the start of the tournament, might not be the best thing for his career.

The PCB also shared a statement regarding the matter on their official website wherein Corbin Bosch deeply regretted his decision to withdraw his name from the PSL, and with that, he won’t be taking part in the 2026 edition of the tournament, serving a one-year ban instead. He said, “I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi and the wider cricket community.”

I hope to return to the PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust: Corbin Bosch

“The PSL is a prestigious tournament and I fully understand the disappointment caused by my actions. To the loyal fans of Peshawar Zalmi, I am truly sorry for letting you down.. I take full responsibility for my actions and accept the consequences, including the penalty fine and the one-year ban from the PSL. This has been a hard lesson, but I am committed to learning from this experience and hope to return to the PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans,” added Corbin Bosch.

While Corbin Bosch hasn’t played for MI in the IPL 2025, the first match of the PSL 2025 is set to happen between defending champions Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi on Friday, April 11.
