Mykhailo Mudryk, the Chelsea and Ukrainian winger, has failed a drug test, which has led to the Football Association (FA) charging him for violation of their anti-doping rules. With that, the 24-year-old could end up facing a four-year ban from the sport after being provisionally suspended by FA in December last year when there was an “adverse finding in a routine urine test” taken of him.

As per the report from BBC Sport, if a player has taken a prohibited substance intentionally then he or she can be suspended for up to four years as per the FIFA guidelines. Mykhailo Mudryk, who hasn’t played for Chelsea since November 28, not included in their matchday squads since December 1 last year, was left in complete shock after finding out about his failed drug test, stating that he “never knowingly used any banned substances”.

The ongoing provisional suspension has led to Mykhailo Mudryk not being allowed to train with the Chelsea players, but the club are supporting his physical and mental well-being with the statement from their manager Enzo Maresca being quite telling at the time. The Ukrainian was last spotted in a public setting in connection with Chelsea during the UEFA Conference League final against Real Betis last month, which they ended up winning with a 4-1 scoreline.

Moreover, the statement of FA on the latest development involving Mykhailo Mudryk read, “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with anti-doping rule violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of regulations 3 and 4 of the FA's anti-doping regulations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
