In the most recent fixture of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 which saw Chelsea lock horns with the Brazilian powerhouse, Fluminense, Chelsea showed a dominant performance as they defeated Fluminense 2-0. It was a power-packed match as both the teams were in marvellous form throughout the tournament. However, the point of difference turned out to be none other than Chelsea’s latest addition to the squad, Brazilian international Joao Pedro from Brighton.

The Brazilian scored a brilliant brace in the match which saw him take his team into the Final of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 single-handedly. The Blues started the match quickly and were quite dominant on the ball and their efforts shone in the 18th minute when Joao Pedro put one into the far post which saw them taking an early lead. Fluminense fought back and just tried to sneak one past the goalkeeper but an extraordinary goal-line clearance from Marc Cucurella saw the Blues keep their lead intact.

Fluminense eliminated; Chelsea progress through to the final in New Jersey

Fluminense were also unlucky on the day as a penalty decision in favour of them was overturned by the VAR in the first-half of the game. Fluminense took a free-kick hard and low which went straight and hit the hand of the Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah. However, they were awarded a penalty but after a check, the referee decided to overturn the decision as the Chelsea defender’s hand was in an unnatural position.

Soon after this in the second-half, Joao Pedro scored yet another banger which rattled the crossbar and sneaked into the goal making the lead 2-0 and eventually winning the match. This victory saw Chelsea progress into the final, which will be played at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. They will be facing either Real Madrid or PSG, depending on the result of the clash between the heavyweights.
