Days after Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) victory parade in Bengaluru saw some innocent lives die as a large audience gathered to watch star Indian batter and former RCB captain Virat Kohli with the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy. However, the celebrations turned into tragedy for several families, who lost their loved ones, the Karnataka government is undergoing intense interrogation on the same.
While the families grieve the loss of their loved ones, the several injured hope to recover in time. Amidst this, the Karnataka CM, Siddaramaiah, announced compensation to the families of the deceased. However, he initially announced a sum of INR 10 Lakh, latelty, he increased the amount to INR 25 Lakh.
Karnataka CM increases compensation for families of deceased to INR 25 Lakh
Taking to X, Karnataka CM wrote in Kannada, which translated to, “I have ordered an increase in the compensation announced for the families of those who died in the stampede at Chinnaswamy Stadium from Rs. 10 lakhs each to Rs. 25 lakhs. Our government hopes that families who have lost loved ones will not suffer further due to financial problems.”
Notably, a day after the incident, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) also announced INR 10 Lakh compensation for the familiers of victims who lost their lives. The franchise made this announcement through their social media post, which read, "The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday has caused a lot of anguish and pain to the RCB family. As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced a financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased. In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident.
