Karun Nair has made it to the Indian squad after eight years as he has been picked for the upcoming Test series in England starting on June 20. Nair earned the limelight when he smashed that famous triple hundred against England in December 2016. However, he couldn’t do anything remarkable after that and was completely vanished from India’s Test lineup. Now, after eight years, Nair has finally been able to make his return in the Test setup which was a reward for his consistent performance in domestic cricket in recent times.

Recently, Karun Nair also made a shocking revelation that he was advised to retire from international cricket and focus on franchise cricket. The advised was given by none other than from some prominent India cricketer as mentioned by the 33–year-old as he could be more financially secure by playing in the T20 leagues.

"I still remember a prominent Indian cricketer calling me and saying I should retire because the money in these leagues would make me secure. It would have been easy to do, but I knew that regardless of the money, I would be kicking myself for giving up that easily,” Nair told Mail Sports.

I was never going to give up on playing for India again: Karun Nair

Despite getting sidelined by the Indian team management from the last few years, Karun Nair was still confident that he would return in the Indian team and kept working hard in domestic cricket. He had a memorable Ranji season last year where he amassed 863 runs from nine matches at an average of 49.59.

“I was never going to give up on playing for India again. That was just over two years ago, and look where we are now. It’s crazy, but deep down, I knew I was good enough,” Karun Nair said.
