In what is clearly and easily one of the most competitive and dominant seasons of the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL), and out and out talent hunt composed of 20-overs-a-side contest, the MPL is buzzing and how. With the primary aim of the competition being toward giving an outstanding and shining opportunity to dollops of cricketers who hail from the very region that has given the firmament of Indian cricket awe-inspiring talents such as Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Ajit Wadekar, Ajinkya Rahane (and many more incredible names), the aim of the MPL is to unleash a slew of frest talents from the impassioned and cricket-obsessed Maharashtra.
Having said that, the 2025 edition of the Maharashtra Premier League has definitely unearthed some talented names whose craft and shining exploits on the 22 yards, though in the region of Maharashtra, are being noted elsewhere.
However, that told, what could be better than seeing some of the brightest names of this galaxy emerging ahead to cut their teeth in the competitive domain called the Indian Premier League?
But while to even make it to the IPL is no easy achievement and something that, actually speaking, appears akin to a dream scenario from which wouldn’t wish to emerge, it is also quite possible that due to some of the strong games that several MPL names’ have had as seen this season, someone from the Mumbai Indians stable will likely pick the talents.
That told, which ones could make it to the Mumbai Indians cut?
Siddhesh Veer, Raigad Royals
Siddhesh Veer is an excellent, attractive and joyful talent to watch whilst he is batting and truth be told, when Siddhesh Veer gets it together on the 22 yards, the cricket ground tends to become his playground and the fans his besotted admirers. That has been the feeling in the current season of the Maharashtra Premier League.
This year, he scored a mega 104 off 62 delivers. It was a hundred to savour in this particular edition of the Maharashtra Premier League.
Prashant Solanki, Eagle Nashik Titans
An experienced, clever spin bowler who always thinks and plans before he comes out to deliver nearly every single time for his well-liked Eagle Nashik Titans, Solanki, who also captains the noted stable in the current firmament of the Maharashtra Premier League is a noted leg break bowler hailing from Mumbai but one born in Rajasthan. He has also picked up several wickets in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he began in the 2021-22 season.
For someone who took a debut back then and that too, just in his debut, Solanki’s middle name is talent.
What is rather interesting is that Solanki, who was picked by Chennai in 2022, wasn’t played a great deal in the IPL ever since but his talent to perturb batters with spin is something that the famed Mumbai Indians may want to take seriously ahead. His 4 for 25, a mega bowling performance against the Satara Warriors in the current edition of the MPL 2025, that won the game for his Eagle Nashik Titans is reason enough to take his incredible talent seriously.
Azim Kazi, Ratnagiri Jets
Another excellent batter who knows it quite well on how to handle tense situations having contested in one of the most prolific games this year’s edition has ever seen, the Ratnagiri Jets have a jumbo size-talented in their much-loved Solanki.
He also happens to be the leading run scorer- at this point- in the mega important tournament whose end goal is to provide a common and respectable platform to divergent cricket playing talents in the important region of Maharashtra.
With over 223 runs to his name in the season, Kazi, an attacking, thinking cricketer could well land himself a vital stint in the future with the famed Mumbai Indians and what a sight might that be?
He has already scored valiant knocks such as- the unbeaten 62 off 42 deliveries vs Satara Warriors
