South Africa have returned to their homeland following their World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 victory after beating Australia in the final held at the iconic Lord’s. In the summit clash, the Proteas held their nerves and chased down the score of 282 in the second innings to claim their first International Cricket Council (ICC) title after 1998. Aiden Markram became the Player of the Match (POTM) for his all-round efforts (1/5 , 1/5, and 136). With this notable success, Temba Bavuma has become the second Protea skipper to win ICC title after Hansie Cronje, who guided South Africa to the Champions Trophy 1998 triumph.
In a recent viral video on social media, Bavuma and his players can be seen landing home at the OR Tambo airport in Johannesburg to a hero's welcome. Bavuma posed with a Test mace in front of the media. His coach Shukri Conrad also joined him and both were seen lifting the illustrious prize together for the camera.

South Africa will look to start their WTC 2025-27 cycle confidently
South Africa will endeavour to start their WTC 2025-27 cycle with confidence as they will next head to face Zimbabwe in a two-match Test series set to be played from June 28 to July 10. After winning the WTC mace, they will also look to script history when they tour India for a couple of Tests to be played in November.
Under Bavuma’s leadership, they will strive to beat Shubman Gill’s side and win their first Test series on India’s soil after 25 years. Back in 2000, South Africa earned their maiden Test series victory in India after winning the games held in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Jacques Kallis became the player of the series for his all-round performance. He racked up 136 runs and five wickets in the series.
