The youth icon of Indian cricket at the moment, Shubman Gill, who has been playing fabulously with the bat since the start of the five Test match series versus England, gave full access to his matchday routine along with an interview to the social media team of Indian cricket team. The video was posted on the official Instagram account of the Indian cricket team after he scored an unbeaten knock of 269 runs from just 387 balls, which gave India a massive advantage on the second day of the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham. This exceptional innings from the new captain of the Indian cricket team helped them post a total of 587 runs in their first innings before reducing England to 77/3.

Yesterday after the end of day's play, Shubman Gill spent some time in the pool for recovery. After which, when he was having his dinner, the social media team of the Indian cricket team pulled him up for a short interview. While talking to them, Gill explained his routine for a matchday. The Indian Test captain said that after the conclusion of play, he gives himsefl some time for recovery before taking his dinner on time and once he is finished with all his work, he then spends some time with his phone, checking all the messages which he has received and replies to it. After that, he goes to sleep so that he can be up and ready for the next day during a Test match rejuvenated.

Further in the interview, Shubman Gill was handed over his phone to listen to the voice notes sent by his parents after his magnificent knock. His father stated that “Well played son, i really enjoyed watching you bat and my heart got really satisfied. I suddenly remembered those days when you played your U16 & U19 cricket while watching you play today, I felt really proud”. His mom also exclaimed that she was very happy watching him bat and told him to keep going and gave him all the blessings in the world.

Listening to their emotional feelings, he also got emotional before remarking, “I started playing cricket for my dad”. Gill stated that it was only with his dad and his best friend that he used to practice cricket and that they are the only ones he listens to in terms of his cricket. His father also said to him that hemissed out on his triple century. At the end of the interview, Shubman said that he is looking forward to finishing the Test match at Edgbaston in Birmingham on a positive note with a victory.
