In the crucial fixture of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Eliminator, Gujarat Titans are locking horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Friday, May 30. However, both teams are coming of a defeat in their respective games, they will be vying to go all out in order to advance further in the tournament.
With both sides seeing some changes in their XI due to unavailability of a few players, MI saw Jonny Bairstow walk out to open alongside Rohit Sharma. With a new opening combination in the do-or-die fixture, they wrecked havoc in Mullanpur, courtesy a brisk inning from the England international.
Jonny Bairstow smashes 26 runs off Prasidh Krishna’s over in Mullanpur
With Mohammed Siraj opening the attack for GT, it was Prasidh Krishna who bowled from the other end. Coming out to bowl his second over of the innings, Krishna conceded 26 runs. On the first delivery of the fourth over of MI inning, Bairstow hammered it over square leg for a maximum. The Indian pacer opted to offer width on the next delivery, but Bairstow didn’t hesitate as he smashed it over cover-point for a four.
The England wicketkeeper-batter received a thick outside edge on the fourth delivery and he swung it across the line, over the third man for another six. Prasidh Krishna bowled a half-volley on the very next delivery and Bairstow this time, clobbered it for a six. He closed the over with another boundary, getting 26 runs and reaching to 39* off 14 deliveries.

With these crucial runs coming from just one over, MI raced to 79/0 at the end of the powerplay with Rohit Sharma batting at 33* off 19, whereas Bairstow scored 44* off just 17 deliveries.
