In the second game of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 between Texas Super Kings (TSK) and MI New York (MINY) at Oakland Coliseum, the former’s captain Faf du Plessis displayed an exceptional level of alacrity to get rid of Michael Bracewell, who was in brilliant touch with his bat in the game. du Plessis couldn’t be impactful as a batter in the first innings, scoring only 18 off 15 but he made a major contribution to his team’s three-run win while fielding. In the fourth over of the second innings, he firstly sent his compatriot Quinton de Kock back to the pavilion with a catch on Adam Milne’s delivery.

Chasing 186 runs, MINY lost three quick wickets, but Bracewell was reluctant to surrender. In the 14th over, du Plessis again exhibited his agility when Bracewell played a shot at the mid-on area. The South Africa veteran dived to his right and grabbed an amazing stunner to assist Milne remove the left-handed Kiwi batter from the crease. Bracewell departed after scoring 38 with three fours and two maximums off just 21.

TSK win their first MLC 2025 game by three runs

After Bracewell’s departure, Kieron Pollard looked relentless against bowlers and helped his team get close to the target. However, in the 17th over, he got run out following which New York’s innings faltered. In the final over, MI needed nine to win the game, but Daryl Mitchell looked disciplined with the ball and contained the first MLC champions on 182.

Calvin Savage became the Player of the Match (POTM) for his unbeaten 53 off 34. In the first innings of the game, he played a vital role in helping his side put up a quality total on the board. The Faf du Plessis-led team will next take on La Knight Riders at Oakland Coliseum on June 16.
