In the match 67th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) posted a massive total of 230/5 in their allotted 20 overs against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The star of the show in CSK innings was one of their newest recruits, Dewald Brevis, who completed a sensational fifty, laced with power and skill, in just 19 balls, to play a key role in taking his team to an above par score, following which the X went abuzz for him.
During the initial phase of his innings, Dewald Brevis smashed a couple of boundaries off the GT spinners before he teared into all of their pace bowlers, starting with a four and six on the bowling of Gerald Coetzee. In the 19th over of the CSK innings, Brevis got hold of Mohammed Siraj, smashing a couple of sixes before a four, to get his innings into complete overdrive, which shortly led to his second fifty of the IPL 2025.
Dewald Brevis also hit a six on Prasidh Krishna, who was by far the most economical bowler for GT this afternoon, just before losing his wicket to him on the last ball of the CSK innings. The South African international ended up scoring 57 runs in just 23 balls with four fours and five maximums, to set up a stiff chase for the hosts GT in their pursuit to finish on top of the points table.

In the mid-innings interview, Dewald Brevis was quoted as saying, as per Cricbuzz, “Firstly I just want to thank god for blessing me with the talent to do this (hitting ability).. It's a good wicket to bat. It's a great score. We need to stick to the basics, think ball by ball and. I don't think I should do that (taking a cold shower in the innings break) because I want to run around and throw myself on the field.”
