As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 reaches its business end, in the final league stage fixture, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will host the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday, May 27. While LSG will be playing for pride, hoping to end their season with a win, RCB, on the other hand, will be hoping to end their season at either of the top two position.
As they set to their final outing, the Rishabh Pant-led franchise will miss the services of pacer Shardul Thakur, who has been reportedly released by the franchise to join the India A squad as they leave for the England tour. It is to be noted that India A will hock horns with England Lions in a two unofficial four-day Test matches, starting from May 30.
BCCI pulls out Shardul Thakur from LSG’s last league stage game in IPL 2025
As India sets eyes to win a Test series on the England soil for the first time in 18 years, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have reportedly informed LSG to release Shardul Thakur fromt heir side as he boards the flight of England. “Yes, we have allowed Shardul to leave for the UK. It is about national duty, and we always want our players to do well for India. Shardul has done well for us and we wish him well”, a source close to developments said as informed by RevSportz.
It is to be noted after string of outstanding performances in domestic red-ball cricket, has earned a spot in the India A as well as the main squad for the England tour. He will be featuring in the two unofficial Tests in order to get into the rhythm ahead of the highly-anticipated Test series.
