Napoli are gearing up to bid for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho after its failed attempt back in January this year. The new bid, which is reportedly expected to be £45 million, could be an escape for the 20-year-old winger. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has once again expressed the club’s interest in Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, stating he believes the player would “become twice as good” if he moved on from Old Trafford.
Back in May, Garnacho was informed that United would consider selling him for the right offer this summer, and he is among five players who have recently told the club they wish to depart during this transfer window.
United are keen to let go Garnacho following his fallout with Old Trafford manager Ruben Amorim. The 20-year-old is among five players whom Amorim has instructed to stay away from pre-season training after they expressed their wish to leave. Garnacho, along with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia, will train separately from the main squad until their situations are settled. Although United have set Garnacho’s valuation at £60 million, but are unlikely to receive that amount given his dispute with Amorim.
Garnacho's got pace, flair and potential: Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis
One of the reasons Napoli is keen to bid again on the Argentine international is his potential to take on the game and change the scenario. Napoli chief feels, Alejandro got the right skills that the club is looking for. While speaking to Mirror, the chief said, "Garnacho's got pace, flair and potential. "But that's not even why we want him. “We want him because he's at United. Get him out and he becomes twice the player. There's a fault at United that I can't explain."
Garnacho’s relationship with Amorim soured after he was omitted from United’s starting line-up in their Europa League final loss to Tottenham in Bilbao. Following the 1-0 defeat, the Argentine star openly questioned Amorim’s decision and stated he would evaluate his future during the summer. Moreover, the winger is also a natural fit for United head coach Ruben Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 system. Since taking charge last November, the Portuguese manager has reshaped United’s tactics - a setup that doesn’t accommodate traditional wingers.
