With Lionel Messi’s contract with Inter Miami set to expire at the end of 2025, sources have informed that Inter Miami are keen on extending their contract. Reports suggest that Messi is also on the same page with Inter Miami and wants to continue playing in Major League Soccer (MLS) ahead of the World Cup in 2026, as per Fabrizio Romano. Lionel Messi has played a pivotal role in the squad of Inter Miami and the club will hope that they can reach an agreement with Leo’s camp in order to continue his era at the Major League Soccer and take Inter Miami to newer levels.
Inter Miami were knocked out of the FIFA Club World Cup after going down by 0-4 margin in the Round of 16 against Paris Saint-Germain, who will be facing the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals on 5th July. The only spark in the team during the defeat was Lionel Messi, who was continuously creating chances and had a couple of shots on the goal but could not manage to find the back of the net.

Ever since Messi’s debut for Inter Miami, the club won their first major trophy, the 2023 Leagues Cup, which helped them qualify for 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Lionel Messi has brought a vast amount of experience to the team which has helped them perform better than before. Since the time Messi has joined the club, Miami have made key signings in form of his former team-mates Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba & Sergio Busquets who have also played a significant role in improving the team performances and boosting the morale of the squad.
