On Tuesday, May 20, the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) announced a few new signings for the remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. With three of their players, Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch set to leave for national duties after MI’s last league game, which is scheduled for May 26, MI have roped in the services of England wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow, Richard Gleeson and Charith Asalanka.
Seeing them join the side for the playoffs stage, which will commence from May 29, the English wicketkeeper-batter also expressed excitement on joining the Mumbai-based franchise. Taking to his Instagram story, Bairstow wrote, “Thrilled to share that I’ll be joining the Mumbai Indians for the remainder of the IPL season! These decisions are never straightforward - especially given how much I’ve enjoyed leading Yorkshire this year. I’m incredibly grateful to the club for their understanding, continued support and look forward t getting stuck back in on my return.”
“This is a fantastic opportunity, and I’m excited to contribute to MI’s campaign. Can’t wait to get started and experience the energy of Mumbai! See you soon! #Mumbai Indians”, he further added. It is to be noted that Bairstow has been signed for a price of INR 5.25 Crore, Gleeson has been signed for a reserve price of INR 1 Crore. Moreover, the Sri Lanka cricketer, Charith Asalanka will replace Corbin Bosch after securing the signing of INR 75 Lakh.
