Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner looked displeased by an X troll who remarked that Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell doesn’t perform well for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 runners-up because the Bollywood actress didn’t marry him. In IPL 2025, Maxwell made a comeback in the Punjab-based team after five years. However, the Aussie looked ineffective with both bat and ball, amassing only 48 runs and four wickets in seven matches. Maxwell got ruled out of the T20 competition after featuring in the match against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at iconic Eden Gardens on April 26.
Replying to the tweet from the troll, Zinta displayed ire, took to X, and wrote, “Will you ask this question to the male team owners of all teams, or is this discrimination just towards the women? I never knew how difficult it is for women to survive in corporate setups until I got into cricket. I’m sure you asked this question out of humour, but I hope you can actually look at your question and understand what you are trying to say because if you really understand what you’re trying to say, it’s not pretty ! I think I have earned my stripes by working very hard for the past 18 years so please give me the respect I deserve & stop with the gender bias. Thank you."
PBKS will resume their campaign against Rajasthan Royals on May 18
Punjab will continue their campaign with their contest against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 18. Under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, PBKS are eyeing a spot in the playoffs. After 2014, they haven’t crossed the league stage. However, this time, they have looked decent in the tournament under Shreyas’ leadership.
With seven wins and three defeats in 11 matches, PBKS are holding the third spot on the points table. With three games left in the round-robin stage, they will look to play quality cricket to head towards the coveted trophy confidently. Both RR and PBKS played against each other in Mohali on April 5 and the former emerged victorious by 50 runs.
