Dutchman and Barcelona star, Frenkie de Jong appears to be keen on continuing with his current club, as Barcelona is looking forward to drafting a new contract for him. Renowned Italian sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano reported that Barcelona has advanced talks for a new deal with de Jong, and both sides are keen to take steps to sign a new contract. Moreover, the Dutch has also made it clear that he wants to stay at the club, and his agent, Ali Dursun, is expected to hold talks with Barcelona’s Director of Football, Deco. The process was quite obvious, as de Jong and Barcelona have become increasingly aligned in recent months, especially with the midfielder’s return to Hansi Flick’s starting lineup.

Last year, there were speculations that the 27-year-old Dutch would be leaving the club in 2025 after returning from the ankle injury, making way for March Casado in Hansi Flick's XI. However, over the past six months, he has managed to completely revive his standing, emerging as an indispensable figure for the Catalan side. The Netherlands international has also informed Ali Dursun that he is not so keen to connect with other clubs at the moment.

Frenkie de Jong in no mood to join other clubs as Barcelona close to signing a new contract: Reports

It was reported that Manchester United, Liverpool, and clubs in Saudi Arabia have shown interest to sign de Jong, but the latter isn't in the mood to switch from his current club. While Barcelona has been open to selling him on several occasions, his determination to stay at the club he grew up admiring has remained steadfast, despite persistent media speculation.

With de Jong now under new representation, Barcelona is expected to finalize his new contract very soon. It’s understood that an agreement in principle is already in place, meaning it may just be a matter of formalizing the paperwork and having him sign once he returns for pre-season training.
