The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League ended with Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifting their first-ever title on June 3, 2025. However, it turned out to be a forgettable season for Chennai Super Kings as they finished at the bottom of the points table for the first time in IPL history. The MS Dhoni-led side could win only four out of their 14 league matches, finishing at the 10th spot. Now, 10 days after the end of IPL 2025, another cricket league is set to start as the Major Cricket League is coming back with its third edition.
The US-based franchise cricket league is set to kickstart on June 13. Notably, three out of the six teams in the MLC are owned by the IPL franchises like Texas Super Kings (owned by Chennai Super Kings owners), MI New York (owned by Mumbai Indians’ owners), and Los Angeles Knight Riders (owned by Kolkata Knight Riders’ owners). Now, Texas have also announced their squad for the upcoming MLC season where Faf du Plessis, who has been a part of CSK before will be seen leading its sister franchise in America.

Now, after the end of IPL 2025, Du Plessis will now be seen taking charge as captain of Texas Super Kings for MLC 2025. The tournament will be played from June 13 to July 14 with six teams locking horns against each other.
