Former West Indies and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opener Chris Gayle met former Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Lalit Modi and ex-RCB owner Vijay Mallya. Gayle appeared in IPL from 2009 to 2021 and during this period, he emerged as the highest run-getter in the West Indies player category. The southpaw played 142 matches in his 12-year league career and during this period, he scored 4965 runs with six tons and 31 fifties. In 2009, the star player started his career with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but his notable stint was with RCB, with whom he spent seven years from 2011 to 2018. Delivering his services to Challengers, he scored 3420 runs in 91 matches.
In his recent visit to London, Gayle clicked pictures with Mallya and Lalit Modi. Taking to his Instagram handle, the former Windies batter posted a story in which he can be seen posing with both eminent figures. He captioned the story, “We living it up. Thanks for a lovely evening.”
Chris Gayle’s scintillating records as RCB opener
As an RCB stalwart, Chris Gayle registered several records to his profile. In 2013, he smashed the fastest IPL century with his 30-ball ton against Pune Warriors India at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. He ended that innings at a score of an unbeaten 175 off 66. With that batting figure, he also became the batter with the individual score in the league.
In 2018, he parted ways with RCB and also served Punjab Kings (PBKS) for three years. In 2021, he played his last IPL season. He also holds the feat of notching up most maximums in the league. He clobbered 357 sixes in his 142 outings. He recorded his presence in the IPL 2025 final played between his former teams Bengaluru and Punjab played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on June 3, 2025
