Belinda Bencic is a Swiss International tennis player, She has a career-high ranking of world No. 4 which she achieved in February 2020. The 28-year-old has won nine career singles titles, including a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and two doubles titles on the WTA Tour. Belinda Bencic defeated Russian international Mirra Andreeva in the quarter-finals by 7-6(7-3), 7-6(7-2) and went on to progress to the semi-final in the Wimbledon for the very first time in her life. 18-year-old Mirra Andreeva was left in tears after failing to compete in a second major semi-final.

Bencic will be facing eighth seed Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals of Wimbledon, but before that, in the post-match presentation, she was a bit emotional after making the top four for the first time in the tournament. Iga Swiatek is currently ranked as the world No. 1 in women’s singles by the WTA for 125 total weeks. The Polish International has won 22 WTA Tour-level singles titles, including five major titles: four at the French Open and one at the US Open. She is also the first Polish International to win a major singles title. Swiatek has also won the 2023 WTA Finals and ten WTA 1000 titles.

Iga Swiatek is a big challenge and I'm really excited to play her: Belinda Bencic

During an interview before the next match between Bencic and Swiatek in the semi-final, Bencic shared her feelings by stating that she feels that Iga Swiatek is a very big challenge in the semi-final and that she is very excited to compete against her. She also stated that both of them have had some very close matches in the past and she will be ready with a game plan to face the Polish international.

When Belinda Bencic was asked about her preparation for the game, she replied, "It's important for me to do it before I go to sleep. While I'm falling asleep, I go through it unconsciously." She is set to make a comeback on the rankings by getting to the top 20 in the world after Wimbledon. She started the year on the rank 489 after her maternity leave was completed. It will be interesting to see who emerges glorious and goes through to the finals of Wimbledon.
